Retreat

Self-Guided Individual Retreats at George Farm in Buckinghamshire.

I offer self-guided individual retreats for those who would like the opportunity to step away from the demands and distractions of everyday life and spend time in deeper reflection.

With the practical aspects of retreat taken care of — accommodation, food, and a simple structure — you are free to settle into the experience and focus on yourself.

The central idea is simple: by withdrawing for a short period from the usual pressures of daily life, it becomes easier to listen more closely to what is happening within us.

These retreats are largely self-directed. Your time is your own — to rest, walk, read, journal, or simply spend time in quiet reflection.

The Retreat Space

You will have your own private room, where you will spend much of your retreat.

The room is simple and comfortable, with a bed, desk and chair and private bathroom with bath.

There are also grounds around the farm where you can sit and walk, offering space to be outside and spend time in nature.

The environment is intentionally quiet and simple, allowing you to settle into a slower rhythm.

Optional Sessions

If helpful, the retreat can include one-to-one sessions with me during your stay.

These sessions provide a space to reflect on what is emerging during your retreat, but the retreat itself remains primarily self-guided. Outside of these conversations, your time is your own.

Food and Nourishment

Food is prepared for you during your stay so that the practical demands of planning and cooking are removed.

Meals are simple and nourishing, using local produce where possible, often centred around slow-cooked meat stock dishes with fresh vegetables.

The intention is to provide grounding, restorative food that supports the slower rhythm of retreat.

My Experience of Retreat

My understanding of retreat comes from several strands of experience.

I have facilitated yoga retreats and over the years I have also undertaken personal retreats myself — both self-led and guided.

These individual retreats at George Farm have grown naturally from my psychotherapy work and my interest in the value of creating space away from everyday life for reflection and reconnection.

Location

George Farm is located in the Buckinghamshire countryside, around 45 minutes by train from London Marylebone.

The intention is to offer a retreat space that feels removed from everyday life, while still being relatively easy to reach.
